Pedestrian Injury Outside Hackensack, NJ

Immediately outside of Hackensack, NJ, a six-year-old girl was critically injured after a car struck the child. While it can be devastating for anyone to be hit by another person driving a car, the situation can become so much worse when it is a child who is the victim. The 25-year-old driver of the Honda Civic struck the girl when the child ran out into the road. The child had been behind a parked delivery van and raced out into the road when the driver of the Honda Civic injured the child. The girl and her family had recently moved to Maywood, New Jersey, and witnesses to the accident said that the impact of the car was so severe that it threw the child into the air.

Because of how serious the girl’s injuries were, she was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. The Maywood police are continuing to investigate this crash to determine who is responsible and are working with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit. Residents of this area have also noted that it is extremely common to see cars driving too fast in this area and negligent or reckless driving of this sort could lead to more serious and fatal accidents in the future.
